Pumpkin Cupcakes

I made these little pumpkin cupcakes for my students and teachers that I work with for tomorrow. Yes, they're very simple. The reason? Because I made 96 of them!

Yes, I said 96!

Makeup while DRIVING?! Yes, guilty!

No new blogs again? Excuses, excuses! I know!

But really, though. We've gotten another virus on our computer (this time it was totally my fault) and I've not really had any internet access. I really need to call Mary so she can save me again!

Facebooking has all been done from my phone. I have my work computer, but I don't think it's exactly appropriate to be updating my blog from it.

So here I am blogging from my parents'.

Being a stay at home mommy was crazily chaotic with all my hobbies I decided to take up (you'll get to see a few more of 'em next month), but then throw in this "working from home" business, and things have become outright ridiculous!

I've been trying to find ways to maximize my time. One thing that really annoys me is my drive to work. It is really only a 15-20 minute drive, but it takes me more like 45. I've found that I can save myself some time by doing my makeup on the way to work. Now I realize how bad this sounds, but I only do it when I'm stopped at a red light. There are 16 signal lights (yes, I've counted) that I drive through every morning, before I even hit the freeway! After I get on the freeway, I hop off at the very next exit (I never even actually merge onto the freeway) and then drive through another 19 lights. As you can guess, I usually hit a majority of these lights while they are red. A couple of them (right here between RCC and the local elementary school) I have to sit through the red more than once before I even make it to the intersection!

Our old house was right next to the freeway and we only had 3 signal lights to get there. Not that I'm complaining! I'd trade that huge mortgage and those few signal lights for what we have now any day!!

Speaking of our old house, I think we may have an Oak Glen trip coming up in the next couple of weeks. We may need to drive by the old house just so I can check it out.

Bow Cupcakes

Red velvet cupcakes. Iced with rolled homemade fondant and homemade fondant bow.

When I posted about Tony's birthday party, I talked about how I would never send out a cake that I wasn't proud of and how I would do whatever it took to make it right. These cupcakes are a perfect example of that. I finished all the original bows for these cupcakes at about 10 on Friday night. From then on, it would be cake, because the bows were the hardest part. After I started thinking about it, I thought the bows would look a lot cuter with big polka dots (the first ones I did were smaller). I made another bow and tested out my big polka dot theory. I was right. They looked so much better with the big ones. So I stayed up until 3:30 and remade all the bows. I was really tired the next day, but so much happier with how they turned out!

LOVE Him Right Now...

Well, always, of course. But right now he's been especially lovable!

He's been trying to pull himself up onto the side of his crib for a while now, but never seemed to be able to reach the top. We bought the convertible crib, so he will be able to still use it once he's ready for a big-boy bed. I put the pad onto the railing of his crib the other day, so when he was able to stand up, he won't leave teeth marks from chewing on the side of his crib.

Last night I set him in his crib to play while I got his bath ready. I can't put him anywhere else, because he will probably crawl away and escape. When I came back to get him, this is how I found him:

He was so happy with his accomplishment.

This faucet cover is one of the best things in baby bathing since Baby Magic.
I originally registered for it so that when Braysen is older he won't bonk his head on the faucet. But with the way it makes the water shoot out instead of down, it makes it so much easier to rinse the shampoo out of his hair. He loves it!

You turn the faucet on and immediately have his attention!

And now that he's figured out how to pull himself up, he wants to use everything he can get his hands on to stand up! First he tried the side of the tub. After I told him no, he turned to the other side and tried to use the soap tray. I've learned to always keep my camera on me with this kid!

 I lobe babies in jammies!

Braysen's First Trip to the Fair

My school went on a field trip to the LA County fair on Thursday. Our students do not go on field trips as a class. They go with their parents. Their family members are welcome. The same goes for the teachers' family members. We met up as a school outside in the parking lot, then headed in. Our students had scavenger hunts to complete as part of their field trip. Another teacher I work with brought her baby as well, and Braysen, of course, was obsessed with her. This little firecracker is only 9 months old and WALKING! Watch out! She was pretty rough with him, which is good, because he's usually much rougher than other babies he's around. She held her own until he pulled her hair, then she was done playing with him.

Sunday with the Plunks

As if being away from home all day Saturday wasn't enough, we paid a visit to the Plunks on Sunday. It was so much fun to see Sawyer and Braysen crawl together. He was trying to follow her everywhere!

 Why, hello!

Follow me!

These next four pictures had me giggling when I looked at them. They are doing almost the exact same thing in every picture!

Love her itty-bitty skinny jeans!

Crazy kid.
